Anal Sex and Anal Pleasure: My Experience, Preparation and Advice

Sexuality is different for everyone. Some practices are extremely enjoyable for some people and not enjoyable at all for others. There is no single right way to experience sexuality: what matters most is pleasure, respect, consent and everyone's well-being.

Today, I wanted to talk openly and without taboos about anal sex and anal pleasure. It is something that has been part of my sexuality for more than twenty years and that I personally enjoy very much.

I'm going to share my own experience, but also talk about subjects that are not discussed very often: preparation, hygiene, lubrication, pain, enemas and even the little accidents that can sometimes happen.

Most importantly, I want to explain the difference between occasional anal sex in your private life and the much more thorough preparation I may choose to do before certain adult shoots.

My experience with anal sex

I discovered anal sex when I was around 20 years old. Over the years, it became a natural part of my sexuality.

Personally, I prefer the sensations I experience during anal penetration to those I experience during vaginal penetration. Of course, this is simply my personal preference. Some women share this preference, others strongly prefer vaginal penetration, and some simply don't enjoy anal penetration at all.

Experience has mainly taught me to understand my body better. Today, I am much better at recognizing when I am relaxed enough, which positions make me feel comfortable and when it is better to slow down or stop.

For me, trust in my partner also plays a huge role. The more relaxed and comfortable I feel, the easier everything becomes.

Why can anal sex be pleasurable?

The anal area contains many nerve endings, which explains why it can be a particularly sensitive area for some people.

For women, some sensations may also indirectly involve nearby structures in the pelvis. For men, prostate stimulation can also contribute to anal pleasure.

However, there is no universal rule. Two people can try exactly the same thing and experience completely different sensations.

There is therefore absolutely no obligation to enjoy anal sex. And there is nothing wrong with not enjoying it either.

First-time anal sex: don't try to reproduce what you see in porn

This is probably one of the most important pieces of advice I can give to someone who wants to discover anal sex.

Your first experience is not a porn shoot.

Videos can sometimes make everything look immediately easy. In reality, everyone has their own pace, and there is absolutely no reason to rush.

Relaxation, arousal, communication and gradual progression are far more important than performance.

If something feels uncomfortable, slow down. If it genuinely hurts, stop. There is no trophy to win.

Does anal sex always hurt?

No. Anal sex should not systematically cause significant pain.

There may be an unfamiliar sensation or some discomfort, particularly when you are inexperienced, but significant or persistent pain is a signal that should be taken seriously.

In that situation, slow down or stop, make sure there is enough lubrication and never assume that pain is simply something you have to endure.

Over the years, I have learned that listening to your body's reactions is infinitely more important than trying to continue at all costs.

Lubricant: for me, it's essential

Unlike the vagina, the rectum does not naturally produce enough lubrication for penetration.

Lubricant helps reduce friction and considerably improves comfort. Personally, I consider it essential for anal sex.

Don't hesitate to apply more whenever necessary.

The type of lubricant you choose also depends on the situation and what you are using. When using condoms, for example, you should choose a compatible lubricant and follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

Hygiene before anal sex: do you really need an enema?

No, an enema is not mandatory before anal sex.

For many people, particularly for occasional anal sex, normal external hygiene can be perfectly sufficient.

There is also a simple reality that needs to be accepted: the rectum is part of the digestive system. Anal sex can therefore sometimes be a little less "clean" than the perfectly prepared images you may see online.

And there is nothing abnormal about that.

Personally, however, my preparation can be different when I know that I am going to take part in an anal shoot.

How I prepare before an anal shoot

It is important to distinguish my private sex life from certain filming situations.

Before a shoot where I know anal sex is going to play an important role, I generally prefer to prepare more thoroughly. My main goal is to feel relaxed and confident during the shoot.

In those situations, I personally use a shower douche to perform a rectal rinse.

This is absolutely not something everyone needs to do before anal sex. It is simply the method I have chosen in certain circumstances after many years of experience.

Anal douching: the part porn never shows you

Let's be honest: it really isn't glamorous.

When you watch a finished video, you obviously don't see all the preparation that may have taken place beforehand.

With more thorough douching, you also need to be prepared for the fact that the water may flush out a surprisingly large amount of fecal matter. The first time you experience this, it can be quite surprising.

There is nothing abnormal about it: you are simply dealing with part of the digestive system.

That's actually one of the reasons I wanted to talk about it. The internet shows you the finished result all the time, but much less often shows you the reality of the preparation behind it.

Be careful about trying to clean deeper and deeper

This is another thing experience has taught me: wanting to feel clean does not mean you should try to rinse as deeply as possible.

Using a large amount of water can cause it to travel farther into the bowel. The result can then be exactly the opposite of what you wanted: water may come back down later and stimulate bowel movements.

Douching too frequently or too aggressively can also irritate the rectal lining.

If you choose to douche, it is therefore better to be cautious: use water at a comfortable temperature, avoid irritating products and avoid unnecessary repeated rinsing.

Preparation intended to make you feel more comfortable should not become an obsession with trying to "clean the entire bowel."

Why I prefer to prepare well in advance

Another mistake is finishing your preparation and immediately starting anal sex or a shoot.

Personally, I prefer to leave some time between my preparation and the beginning of filming. It gives me time to make sure everything feels fine and, above all, means I don't have to rush through the entire process.

Our bodies aren't machines, and digestion can sometimes surprise us.

Yes, accidents can happen

This is probably one of the biggest taboos surrounding anal sex.

Even with experience and careful preparation, there is no such thing as zero risk.

A small accident does not mean someone is dirty or prepared incorrectly. It is simply something that can happen because of the anatomy involved in anal sex.

If it happens, there is no need to make a drama out of it: stop, clean up and calmly decide whether you want to continue.

For me, being comfortable enough with your partner to handle this kind of situation without embarrassment or humiliation is also important.

Porn versus the reality of anal sex

I obviously know particularly well the difference between what viewers see and what actually happens before and during a shoot.

A video shows you the finished result. It doesn't necessarily show the preparation, breaks, conversations between partners or all the little details that help a shoot go smoothly.

You should therefore never use a porn video as an instruction manual for your own sex life.

What you see on screen may involve very experienced people working in conditions that were prepared in advance.

In your own sex life, there is no performance you need to reproduce.

Condoms and STI prevention

Anal penetration carries a risk of transmitting certain sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Condoms remain one of the main ways to reduce this risk. Depending on your sex life and your partners, regular STI testing can also be an important part of prevention.

You should also avoid going directly from anal penetration to vaginal penetration with the same condom or without appropriate cleaning, in order to reduce the transfer of bacteria.

Prevention should of course be adapted to your personal situation and can be discussed with a doctor or sexual health clinic.

The most common mistakes, based on my experience

What more than twenty years of experience have taught me

When I discovered anal sex at 20, I obviously understood my body far less than I do today.

Looking back, my main piece of advice would actually be very simple: stop focusing on performance.

You can love anal sex without constantly wanting to go further. You can enjoy it with one partner and not with another. You can want it one day and have absolutely no desire for it the next.

Our bodies and desires change.

Above all, experience has taught me that trust, communication and understanding your own body matter far more than all the supposed rules you might read or see elsewhere.

FAQ about anal sex and anal pleasure

Is anal pleasure normal?

Yes. The anal area contains many nerve endings, and some people particularly enjoy stimulation there. Others experience no pleasure from it at all. Both are perfectly normal.

Does first-time anal sex always hurt?

No. A first experience can involve unfamiliar sensations, but significant pain is not something you should simply endure. Take your time, use enough lubricant and stop if the pain persists.

Is lubricant necessary for anal sex?

It is strongly recommended. The rectum does not produce sufficient natural lubrication for penetration, and lubricant helps reduce friction.

Do you need an enema before anal sex?

No. An enema is not essential. Some people nevertheless prefer to douche because it makes them feel more comfortable. Personally, I sometimes choose more thorough preparation before certain anal shoots, but that absolutely does not mean everyone needs to do the same thing.

What is the difference between an enema bulb and a shower douche?

An enema bulb generally allows you to use a limited amount of water for a relatively localized rinse. A shower douche provides a continuous flow of water and therefore requires more caution to avoid excessive water pressure or volume.

Can you use soap for anal douching?

It is better to avoid putting soap, disinfectants or other potentially irritating products inside the rectum. The lining is delicate and these products can cause irritation.

Why can water come out later after douching?

When a larger amount of water travels farther into the bowel than intended, some of it may temporarily remain there and come back down later. This is one reason why cleaning deeper and deeper is not necessarily more effective.

Does an accident during anal sex mean you prepared badly?

No. Even with preparation, an accident can still happen. The rectum is part of the digestive system, so it is impossible to guarantee zero risk.

Can everyone enjoy anal sex?

No, and there is absolutely no reason to force yourself. Sexual preferences are personal.

Can you have anal sex regularly?

Some people have anal sex regularly while others do it occasionally. What matters is paying attention to your comfort and avoiding continuing when there is pain or injury.

Is consent especially important with anal sex?

Consent is essential for every sexual activity. Anyone should always be able to agree, refuse or ask to stop at any time.

Conclusion: pleasure, preparation and absolutely no obligation

After more than twenty years of experience, anal sex is naturally part of my sexuality and personally remains an important source of pleasure for me.

But my experience isn't a rule that anyone else needs to follow.

You don't have to enjoy anal sex. You don't have to reproduce what performers do in a video. And you certainly don't need to go through the same preparation as someone preparing for an adult shoot.

If you want to discover anal sex, take your time, use enough lubricant, communicate with your partner and, above all, listen to your body.

And if you choose to douche, remember that it is an optional preparation rather than an obligation. Yes, the reality of that preparation is much less glamorous than the finished result you see on screen. But I would rather tell you about that reality than pretend everything is always perfectly clean and perfectly simple.

Ultimately, that's probably the most important thing all these years have taught me: enjoyable sex isn't a performance. It's about knowing your body, respecting your limits and doing what genuinely gives you pleasure.
